Introduction
This hospital, located in Phaplu, Solukhumbu district, was established by Sir Edmund Hillary and handed over to the Government of Nepal in 1981 to operate with an approved capacity of 15 beds. After moving to a newly constructed building with a capacity of 25 beds, the hospital is now functioning with approximately 50 beds under the Koshi Province Government. Under the leadership of former Director General of the Department of Health Services, Dr. Mingmar Gyelgen Sherpa, the hospital was operated for about 25 years. As of 2080/05/13 (Bikram Sambat calendar), the responsibility of the hospital has been taken over by the current acting Medical Superintendent, Dr. Prashant Shah, along with his team. The Chairman of the Hospital Operation and Management Committee is Mr. Krishna Prasad Niraula, the Chief of the District Coordination Committee.
